An Appeal

Dear Friends/Devotees,

Hope by the grace of Lord, you all are keeping well.It is perhaps needless to introduce Ramakrishna Mission to your goodself. Under its headquarters at BelurMath,WestBengal,

Ramakrishna Mission has been rendering humanitarian services, in every possible fields, through its 163 centres in India and 51 centres abroad since its inception.

This centre of Ramakrishna Mission was started in 1917, much before the independence of India. During that period Karimganj was a part of Sylhet district of present Bangladesh and the centre was graced with the regular visits and guidance of the old monks of Ramakrishna Order from Sylhet.

The major project it took up just after independence of India was settlement of Hindu refugees from Pakistan and took a leading role for settlement of Refugees in the district of Karimganj. Thereafter, the ashrama started a boys’ hostel for the students of distant villages which is still continuing. In the next phase, a Mobile Dispensary was started in the year 1998 to extend medical facilities for the poor in the far-flung villages. This Mobile Dispensary continues to attend the poor villagers living in remote and inaccessible villages with doctors, para-medical staff and volunteers to render free medical advice with medicines.

The ashrama also runs a non-formal school with 260 students in its campus to provide free coaching amongst the students of slum areas providing them with school materials, uniforms, toiletry materials and daily Tiffin. This scheme is introduced to extend support to the children who are from slum areas and backward - educationally, socially and financially.

In addition to those, this ashram maintains a Charitable Dispensary in its campus. In this Dispensary, treatment and medicines are also provided to the poor patients free of cost. A Neuro Surgeon from Bangalore visits our Dispensary every alternate two months to attend patients free of cost. Eye specialist from Silchar attends twice/thrice in a month and renders free services. Operations are also undertaken outside as and when required.

To extend better medical services to our patients, it has been decided to add Pathological Unit, Dental Unit, Eye-care Unit and Physiotherapy Unit to our Dispensary. To introduce the Pathological, Dental, Eye and Physiotherapy units, following items/equipments are needed to be purchased for which a fund of Rs. 40.00 Lacs is urgently required.
